Ski trip New Zealand - Sample Itinerary

Head to your nearest international airport and fly to Queenstown. There you will meet your Tour Manager who will be with you for the duration of the trip.

Transfer to your accommodation and then walk into town for your dinner reservation.

Enjoy two days of skiing at the Remarkables. The group will have a 1.5 hour lesson in the morning each day.

The Remarkables is one of the highest ski resorts in the South Island and gets all day sunshine. It also has fantastic beginner areas for those in your group who are just starting out. It is the youngest ski area in the region, having opened in 1985. It is popular with snowboarders and free skiers as it has Queenstown's best terrain park. The Remarkables also has brilliant backcountry trails inside the ski area boundary, such as 'homeward bound'.

Head out for an exhilarating jet boat ride on the Kawarau River!

Experience a thrilling, high-speed jet boating adventure, skimming across peaceful Lake Wakatipu with its backdrop of spectacular mountains before plunging between dramatic high cliffs. Hold on tight as the Thunder jet boat twists and turns its way through braided river, travelling up to 90 kilometres per hour in just centimetres of waters.

Get alongside nature at its most dramatic: travel past towering cliffs hugging the water’s edge and untouched scenery encapsulating New Zealand’s wild natural beauty. Return to Queenstown taking in the spectacular views of the Remarkables Range, Cecil Peak and Kelvin Peninsula. If the famous 360 (degree) Hamilton spins conducted by your expert jet boat driver don’t leave you breathless, the scenery will.

Head up the Skyline Gondola, you will race around the luge track and then tuck into a massive buffet dinner!

Often considered to be the “most fun” activity students have on tour, your group will ride the stunning Skyline Gondola and then access a downhill luge track which overlooks the Queenstown Lakes District and beyond.  Three trips are included but may not seem enough for some! This is a fantastic adrenalin rush for both students and teachers.

Your package also includes a dinner up at Queenstown's Skyline restaurant. This is one of Queenstown's most spectacular restaurants with the Taste of New Zealand buffet dishing up mouth-watering food of legendary proportions.

Another two days skiing – this time at Coronet Peak.

Coronet Peak is the South Island's most popular resort, and with good reason - it has a great range of trails for all abilities, a very extensive modern base building area and is the closest resort to Queenstown. Your group will enjoy these aspects of this resort in addition to the fantastic views of the surrounding area. Regarded as the birthplace of snow sports in the South Island, Coronet is also host to many events through the season such as the Queenstown Winter Festival. It is also the training ground of New Zealand's national ski team.

Head over the Crown Range for a final day of skiing.

Cardrona is nestled amongst the mountains of New Zealand's incomparable South Island. Cardrona Alpine Resort is famous for being higher than other ski resorts in the area providing lighter, dryer snow. It has a huge range of beginner and intermediate terrain, as well as world class park and pipe features. The Burton Open is often held there. Cardrona has specialist slopes for beginners, wide open groomed slopes for intermediates, chutes for advanced, and an extensive park for free-stylers.

Get it right

This quotation and itinerary is a starting point. We enjoy this stage, spending time with teachers to make changes and ensure each school group gets the best itinerary at a suitable package price.

Confirm the trip

To confirm your trip a non-refundable deposit (normally 15% of the package price) is required. Once we have secured the main components of your trip with our suppliers we will send you a confirmation invoice. This will include a remaining payments schedule as agreed with you. Note: international flights are generally only available to be booked 11 months prior to travel.

Price guarantee

We know how difficult it is for teachers to ask parents for more money. Once we have issued a confirmation invoice the price will never change as long as the itinerary does not change and the numbers of travellers remain the same. So the price of the tour will not increase if flights and/or taxes increase or exchange rate changes. Another reason why EA School Tours makes teachers' lives easier!
